Mindful Girls Saturday Sessions

A calm, confidence building program for girls aged 8–12

 

Mindful Girls looks a little different in 2026. After listening to families (and noticing how hectic weekday afternoons can feel), Mindful Girls is moving away from after school sessions and offering Saturday afternoon sessions instead.

 

These sessions still offer the same heart of Mindful Girls: resilience building, emotional awareness, confidence and connection but in a way that feels more spacious and realistic for families.

 

The Saturday Sessions in Term One

Three nurturing Saturday sessions for girls aged 8–12 to build mindfulness, emotional regulation, confidence and self worth in a supportive small group setting.

Each session includes a blend of:

  • gentle mindfulness + calming strategies

  • emotional literacy and coping tools

  • confidence and self worth activities

  • creative expression (art-based, reflective activities)

  • connection and belonging in a safe group space

​

Facilitated by Social Worker Emily Gascoyne, Mindful Girls supports girls to better understand their emotions, build helpful coping strategies and strengthen their inner confidence.

​

By the end of the Saturday Sessions, girls will have:

  • a stronger understanding of feelings and body signals

  • practical regulation tools they can use at home and school

  • increased confidence and self belief

  • language to express emotions in healthier ways

  • a sense of connection and belonging

​

Saturday 14th February — Feelings & Calm Bodies

Learning to tune into body cues as a first step toward emotional regulation, with tools to help settle anxious or big feeling moments.

 

Saturday 28th February — Confidence & Self Worth

Building a stronger inner voice, exploring strength and practicing ways to feel more capable and steady in themselves.

 

Saturday 14th March— Friendships & Brave Moments

Supportive strategies for friendships, boundaries, handling tricky social moments and practicing brave choices in a gentle way.

 

Families can choose what works best for them:

  • Attend a single Saturday Session, or

  • Opt into two sessions, or

  • Book all three sessions at a discounted rate

Each session stands alone, however booking all three sessions allows girls to build on skills over time and gain the greatest benefit from the program.

​

Mindful Girls is a great fit for girls who:

  • feel anxious or overwhelmed

  • are sensitive and feel things deeply

  • struggle with confidence or self esteem

  • experience big emotions (worry, frustration, tears, shutdown)

  • would benefit from calm coping tools and positive peer connection

​

  • Session length: 75 minutes 

  • Location: Gisborne 

  • Investment: $90 per session / $225 for all 3 sessions
