Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer face to face counselling sessions?
I currently offer counselling sessions online via telehealth.
Working virtually allows me to support mums and families flexibly, without the stress of travel or childcare.
Many clients actually find they feel more comfortable opening up from their own home.
If face to face sessions become available in the future, I will be sure to share that update.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment by getting in touch via email or direct message and I will send through the next available times.
Once we confirm a suitable day and time, I will provide you with a secure booking link, intake forms and payment details to finalise your session.
If you would prefer a quick chat over the phone before booking, you are very welcome to request that too.
Do you accept Mental Health Care Plans?
Yes, I accept Mental Health Care Plans.
As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, sessions can be Medicare rebated with a valid referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.
Once your session is paid, you will receive a receipt that you can use to process your Medicare rebate.
If you are unsure how to organise a plan or what to ask your GP for, I am very happy to guide you through it.
What if i'm not sure you will be the right fit?
That’s completely okay. Finding the right fit really matters.
I offer a short initial connection call so you can ask questions, share what has been going on and get a feel for how I work before committing to ongoing sessions.
It is important that you feel safe, understood and comfortable.
If after that you don’t feel I’m the right person, I am always happy to help guide you toward other supports that may be a better fit.
The goal is getting the right support, even if that is not with me.
If I decide you are a good fit, what happens next?
Once you decide to move forward, we will book your first full session and I will send through the intake forms and consent paperwork to complete beforehand.
In the first session, we will gently explore what has been happening, what you are hoping for and any background that feels important. With children, this may include time with both parent and child, depending on age and needs.
From there, we will create a clear, collaborative plan so you know what we are working toward and how sessions will support that. I will also explain practical details like frequency, rebates (if applicable) and how to contact me between sessions.
You won’t be left wondering what the process is, it will feel structured, supportive and clear.
What is the first session like?
The first session is a gentle starting point, not an interrogation and not diving into everything all at once.
For adults, I will spend time getting to know you, what has brought you to therapy, what is feeling hard right now and what you are hoping might change. I will ask some background questions so I can understand the bigger picture, but at a pace that feels safe.
For children and teens, the first session often focuses on building comfort and trust. Depending on age, I may spend part of the session with the parent and part with the young person. With younger children, we might use drawing, play or creative activities rather than just talking.
You don’t need to prepare anything perfectly. Just come as you are. The first session is about connection, clarity and helping you feel understood.
Can I claim appointments with my private health fund?
That depends on your fund and your level of cover.
Some private health insurance policies include rebates for mental health or counselling sessions, while others don’t. If your fund covers social work or psychology sessions, you may be able to claim part of the cost.
I can provide a receipt with the necessary item codes and you can check with your insurer to confirm your rebate. Many clients use a combination of Medicare rebates and private health cover where eligible.
