Therapy For Girls

Emily provides counselling and wellbeing support for girls aged 6–12 experiencing anxiety, worries, low confidence, friendship difficulties, emotional challenges and life transitions.

She creates a calm, welcoming space where girls feel safe to express themselves, explore their emotions and build the skills they need to thrive.

Her approach is warm, playful and grounded in evidence based practice. Sessions are tailored to each child and draw on therapeutic approaches including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and creative, child centred interventions to support emotional wellbeing and resilience.

Therapy gives girls the opportunity to better understand their thoughts, feelings and experiences in a way that makes sense to them. Together, they develop practical strategies to manage worries, navigate friendships, build confidence, regulate emotions and cope with life's challenges.

Parents are supported throughout the process, helping to create meaningful and lasting change both in therapy and at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required to book an initial parent consultation. However, if you would like to access Medicare rebates for your child's counselling sessions, your child will need a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP.

How often will my child attend?

Every child is different, so the frequency of sessions will depend on their individual needs and goals. Some children benefit from short term support, while others attend therapy over a longer period to continue building skills and confidence.

What if my child has never been to therapy before?

That's completely okay. The first step is a parent only intake appointment where we will discuss your child's strengths, challenges and goals. This helps ensure I have a good understanding of your child's needs before we begin therapy. When your child attends their first session, the focus is on helping them feel safe, comfortable and getting to know each other at their own pace.
